Covered bridge camping trip

Our campsite which we didn't register for. The computer cancelled our reservation (made in April) then someone else registered for our site and they would not put us in our original site which was next to Lavonne Peak's. It worked out OK but I was not happy about it. They did refund 1/2 the charges. On Thursday night and Friday night 7 of us packed into this little camper and played games. Cozy but fun.

The table and optional bed in one end

The bed at other end with sink, stove and fridge in middle

On Wednesday Fran and I drove to Mansfield to do some flea market shopping. These were some of the pictures we took. The colors were the best we have had for several years.

On Friday it was raining so we decided to drive some of the covered bridge routes. We saw around 10 of the bridges and these are some pictures taken on that drive.
Not much traffic so we could stop for picture taking. The only vehicle that came by was the rural Postman.

Most of the road is gravel and winds through the countryside. Sometimes it goes right through the farmers yard or alongside their fields.

They are modern (fiberglass) but still functional. Not sure which was hers and which was his but maybe they were co-functional

Some of the bridges are in need of maintenance work. This was one of the few that you cannot drive through. By it's look I wouldn't want to drive through it either.

These are seen fairly frequently around the Turkey Run State park. They are turkey vultures and feed primarily on dead animals. Lots of time you see them alongside the road where there is roadkill present.
This steep gulley is right in the campgrounds and when our kids were small they use to ride their bikes and/or skateboards down this hill.
This is looking towards the main area of campsites. Fran counted the steps and we were 400 steps from the campsite to the bath house. We often drove to the bath house in the mornings when our bladders were begging for relief.

Our center piece for the table.
This was taken towards the back of our campsite.
On Sabbath Fran and I decided to drive to Shades State Park to do our hiking since we have never done that. Usually we hike the trails near the campground but since there was alot of rain and some storm closed trails we thought it would be good to try another trail. We did trail 1 since trails 4,5,7,8 were classed as rugged.
The trail went down into Devil's punch bowl which was quite wet but still walkable.

The trail had lots of stairs up and down.

There are several falls in the park and this is the one on trail 1. Water doesn't go over the typical drop but rather slides down the face of the cliff. Would be a great tubing hill if the would allow it.

There are some beautiful lookouts along the trail.

 Interesting fall colors.
Fran doesn't have the bull by the horns but she does have the tree by the limbs.

 Any resting spot will do.
