Fall color tour - Part 1

We began our trip on Wednesday October 2nd and spent two days getting to Rutland, Vermont. Here a few pictures along the way.

From South Bend, IN we took the Indiana tollroad. Must say it was the best maintained road we travelled on the whole trip. So much for the argument that privatization of the toll road would lead to a poorly maintained road.
This was about the most color we saw until getting into New York state.
A little side trip to see lake Erie. Our first lighthouse.
On our way to Buffalo, NY we began seeing a little more color.

Took a side trip to Niagara Falls but could only do the American side as we forgot our passports at home. Never dawned on us that they would be needed a couple times on our trip. These are the American Falls in the background.
 Some color in the trees.
The falls on the Canadian side as seen from the American side.
On Thursday morning we left the Buffalo area and headed for Vermont
This is highway 100 in Vermont. We took it all the way north to Morrisville, VT then went over to Littleton, NH for the weekend.

Fran discovered that this store was on route 100 so we stopped to do a little stretching of the legs and pocketbook.

Thursday evening we stayed in Rutland, Vermont then went back to route 100 to continue our journey on Friday.
