Fall color tour - Part 2

After spending Thursday night in Rutland, VT we headed back to route 100 taking highway 4 from Rutland to route 100. Our destination for Friday was the KOA at Littleton, NH where we would spend Friday and Saturday nights.

Pico Mountain ski resort on highway 4 just east of Rutland, VT.
Back on highway 100 and came across this lovely golf course.  If I played golf I would certainly have stopped to play here.
The trees across from the golf course.
Came across this old truck at a B&B along route 100.
Some of the color along the way.
 Side trip to some falls.

These falls were right beside the highway.
Mom and Pop had there stand in the parking area for the falls. Good selection of maple products but we felt a little pricey.
Route 100 heading north towards our next stop at Waterbury, VT
 Flowers in parking lot
Yup!! Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. No way we could go by this place without stopping. This was our second visit as we stopped here when we did our New England trip many years before.
It is interesting to visit the flavor graveyard to see some of the ice cream flavors they tried but didn't continue.

Besides the added flavoring and nuts etc. here are the main ingredients making up their ice cream.
This was the flavor of the day. Actually they weren't making ice cream that day as it was cleaning day. The shutdown production to completely clean the factory. I think they said one day a week.

Actually this was the flavor of the day. It was really good but we haven't been able to find it in any of the stores here in Michigan.

I had the Maple walnut ice cream and Fran had the New York Super Fudge chunk ice cream (Chocolate Ice Cream with White & Dark Fudge Chunks, Pecans, Walnuts & Fudge Covered Almonds). The maple walnut is only available at the factory since it cost so much to produce.
Another stop to stretch our legs and pocketbooks.
They were making apple cider and you can see how much the stack on the left is compressed when compared to stack on right.
 Apple cider anyone?
From Waterbury we took route 100 to Morrisville, VT then highway 15/2 over to Littleton NH
. These are some of the colors along the way.

 Our home for the weekend.
After a delightful church and potluck at the SDA church in St. Johnsbury, VT we took a tour of the area.

Actually we didn't hike the Appalachian trail. Just faking it Ha Ha.
